New Mexico Jazz Workshop Pays Tribute to Outstanding Women Vocalists in New Mexico June 12-13, at 7pm @ the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico Jazz Workshop, one of New Mexico's oldest and largest non-profit jazz organizations continues its 33Annual Summer Music Festival of outdoor concerts at the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater with a weekend of soulful music by some of the region's most electrifying divas.

2009 Women's Voices, now in its 16year, pays tribute to New Mexico’s most sought-after songstresses. Curated and co-hosted by a diva in her own right, Ms. Cathryn McGill, 2009 Women's Voices is a special event that promises to be an unforgettable weekend of blues, R & B, jazz, bebop, swing, and rock-roll--under the stars. New Mexico Jazz Workshop 2009 Women's Voices June 12-13 at the Albuquerque Museum Amphitheater at 2000 Mountain Road, NW. The unified curtain time for all evening performances is 7:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. All concerts occur rain or shine. Admission for 2009 Women’s Voices: $15 Adults; $13 Seniors (60+) and Students w/ID; $12 New Mexico Jazz Workshop (NMJW) and Albuquerque Museum Members.

Look up the word diva in the dictionary--the modern definition is fairly straight-forward: celebrated female singer. This spartan description only scratches the surface of the word. The powerful gathering of talent known as Women's Voices--a collection of New Mexico's most celebrated women in music is so grand no walls can contain it. Women's Voices, curated by Ms. Cathryn McGill presents world-class divas more akin to the original, Latin definition of the word meaning, goddess.

“Women's Voices is a rare event,” says Maud Beenhouwer, Interim Executive Director of New Mexico Jazz Workshop. “It's one of the few times we get to see so many great singers in one place on the same night.” Beenhouwer states that audiences can expect an eclectic weekend of music that runs the gamut of jazz, bebop, swing, rock-n-roll, Latin and soulful R&B. “There's something for everyone at Women's Voices,” says Beenhouwer. “But don't wait too long to get your tickets--Women's Voices is one of our most anticipated events and is bound to sell out!”
